(1)the capital of意為“……的首都/國都”。其中capital用作可數(shù)名詞,意為“首都;國都”。 eg: Beijing is the capital of China.北京是中國的首都。 (2)after all意為“畢竟;終歸”,位于句首時含有“別忘了……”之意,用來說服或提醒對方。 eg:,I thought I was going to fail the exam, but I passed after all.我本以為我會考試不及格,但我最終通過了。 After all, he is your father. 畢竟他是你的父親。 5.So I make an effort to be on time when I meet my friends. 所以當我與朋友見面時,我努力做到守時。 make an effort to do sth.意為“努力做某事”。effort名詞,意為“努力;盡力”。 eg:,Please make an effort to finish it on time. 請努力按時完成。 All their efforts were in vain.他們所有的努力都白費了。 6.I always leave the house early to avoid heavy traffic because I think it's impolite to keep others waiting. 我總是早早離開家以避免交通擁擠,因為我認為讓別人等待是不禮貌的。 (1)avoid及物動詞,意為“避免;逃避”,指在做某事之前有意避開,其后可接名詞、,代詞或動詞-ing形式作賓語。 eg: Fortunately, he avoided an accident. 幸運的是,他避開了一場事故。 I tried to avoid meeting her because she always bored me.我盡量避免遇到她,因為她總是使我厭煩。 (2)impolite形容詞,意為“無禮的”,它是由形容詞polite加前綴im-構成的。 eg: It's impolite to laugh at others. 嘲笑別人是不禮貌的。,(3)keep sb. doing sth.意為“讓/使某人一直做某事”。eg: Sorry, I have kept you waiting so long. 對不起,讓你久等了。 【拓展】 在“keep+賓語+賓語補足語”結構中,keep為及動動詞,意為“使……保持某種狀態(tài)”,賓語補足語可以是形容詞、副詞、動詞-ing形式或介詞短語。,第三課時(Section A Grammar Focus~4c),一、be supposed to do sth.與be expected to do sth. be supposed to do sth.意思是“應該做某事”,相當于should/ought to do sth.。be expected to do sth.意思是“應該做某事;被期望做某事”。 用法:二者都用來表示根據(jù)規(guī)定或傳統(tǒng)習慣等人們不得不做某事或被期待做某事,可進行互換。二者中的to均,為動詞不定式的符號,不是介詞,其后要跟動詞原形。be隨人稱和時態(tài)的變化而變化。eg: You're supposed to make noise while eating noodles.=You're expected to make noise while eating noodles.吃面條時,你應該發(fā)出響聲。 1.當be supposed to…的主語是“人”時,意為“應該;被期望……”,它可以用來表示勸告、建議、義務、責任等,相當于情態(tài)動詞should。eg:,You're supposed to ask the teacher for permission first if you want to leave the classroom. 如果你想離開教室的話,應該先征求老師同意。 2.be supposed to…的否定結構為be not supposed to…,它常用于口語中,意為“不被許可……;不應當……”。 eg: You are not supposed to do that. 你不應當做那件事。 二、It's+adj.+(of/for sb.)+to do sth.,1.It+be+adj.+to do sth.意為“做某事是……的”,it為形式主語,真正的主語是后面的動詞不定式。因動詞不定式作主語較長,而謂語部分相對較短,用it代替后就避免了“頭重腳輕”的現(xiàn)象。 eg: I think it's important to sleep eight hours a night. 我認為每晚睡8小時很重要。 2.表示“對某人來說做某事是……的”,用句型It+be+adj.+for/of sb.+to do sth.,其中sb.為動詞不定式to do sth.的邏輯主語。二者的具體用法為:,eg: It's hard for me to answer your question. 對我來說回答你的問題很難。 It was foolish of him to go alone. 他單獨去太傻了。 三、重點句子 1.If there are people in the meeting room, you are supposed to knock before entering. 如果有人在會議室,進入前你應該敲門。 (1)knock不及物動詞,意為“敲;擊”,后接賓語時,通常跟介詞on/at。 eg:,She is knocking on/at the door. 她正在敲門。 (2)knock也可用作可數(shù)名詞,意為“敲擊聲;敲擊”。eg: I heard three knocks at the door. 我聽見三下敲門聲。 2.In many eastern European countries, you are expected to take off your gloves before shaking hands. 在許多東歐國家,你應該在握手前摘下手套。,(1)take off動副短語,意為“脫下(衣服);摘掉”,反義短語為put on,賓語若為代詞必須置于中間。 eg: She hated the colour of the coat, so she took it off. 她不喜歡這件上衣的顏色,因此她把它脫了下來。 (2)take off還有“(飛機等)起飛”的意思。 eg: The plane will take off soon.飛機很快就起飛。 3.…but it is worth the trouble if you want to understand another culture.,……但如果你想理解另一種文化,這麻煩是值得的。 worth作形容詞,意為“值得;有……價值(的)”,其后可接名詞、代詞、數(shù)詞或動詞-ing形式。其常用結構為be worth doing sth.,意為“值得做某事”。eg: This picture is worth 100 yuan.這幅畫值100元。 The film isn't worth seeing. 這部電影不值得看。 【注意】 worth后面的動詞一般用主動形式表示被動意義,而不能直接用被動形式。,第四課時(Section B 1a~1d),1.In China, you're not supposed to stick your chopsticks into the food. 在中國,你不應該把筷子插入食物中。 (1)stick…into/in…意為“把……插入……”。 eg: Don't stick your fork into your food.別把叉子插入食物中。 (2)chopstick名詞,意為“筷子”,常用復數(shù)形式。 eg: We usually eat noodles with chopsticks. 我們通常用筷子吃面條。,【拓展】 英語中常見的以復數(shù)形式出現(xiàn)的名詞有:noodles(面條),dumplings(餃子),trousers(褲子),pants(長褲),shorts(短褲),gloves(手套),shoes(鞋子),socks(襪子),glasses(眼鏡),scissors(剪刀)。 2.…point at anyone with your chopsticks. ……用你的筷子指著任何人。,(1)point此處用作不及物動詞,意為“指;指向”。eg: She points at the map and says, “This is Beijing.” 她指著地圖說:“這是北京?!?(2)point還可用作及物動詞,常用結構為point sth.at sb./sth.,意思是“用某物指著某人/物”。,第五課時(Section B 2a~2e),1.Yes, I'm having a great time on my student exchange program in France. 是的,我在法國的交換生活過得很愉快。 (1)have a great time意為“玩得高興;過得愉快”,相當于have a wonderful/good/nice time,have fun或enjoy oneself。 eg:,Did you have a great/wonderful/good/nice time last Sunday?=Did you have fun last Sunday?=Did you enjoy yourself last Sunday?你們上周日玩得開心嗎?
