1、 英文譯文: 論多媒體技術對學習的有效支持 肯.鮑威爾 現代科學技木的飛速發(fā)展,使人類社會進入了信息時代。多媒體技術在今天學習領域中的應用,是學習現代化的一個重要標志,并因而引發(fā)了全球范圍內的學習革命,這必將對學習者的學習產生深遠的影響。 1 、多媒體技術及其特點 多媒體技術,簡單地說就是利用計算機技術綜合地處理文字、語言、圖像等多種媒體信息的系統(tǒng)技術。它以計算機為中心,把語言、圖像處理技術和視聽技術集結在一起,并通過對音頻、視頻信號的模數轉換和數據壓縮、解壓等過程,實現計算機對不同媒體信息的存儲、傳遞、加工、變換和檢索。將多媒體技術應用于學習可表現出
2、如下特點: (1)集成性。多媒體技術將多種媒體對信息的呈現形式有機地結合在一起,實現了信息呈現形式的多樣化。 (2)交互性。多媒體技術具有便捷的人機交互特點,利用多媒體網絡可實現人與人之間、人與機器之間適時快捷地交流。 (3)信息組織的大容量和非線性。多媒體技術是一種大容量的知識庫,可容納非常豐富的教學信息資源,其信息組織形式也具有非線性網絡化特點。 隨著計算機多媒體技術和網絡技術的發(fā)展,多媒體技術既可用于一般課堂教學,又可用于個別化學習,能實現教學資源的共享,實現遠程教育,在學習領域得到廣泛地應用。 2 、多媒體技術對學習的支持 傳統(tǒng)的學習觀念認為,學習是通過
3、教師的直接傳授來進行的,教師的教育是一門藝術。教師是否深請教學方法中的技巧藝術,是評判教師水平的唯一依據?!敖逃囆g”是教師們所醉心研究和向往的學問。但是,現代遠距離多媒體技術的產生,改變了人們傳統(tǒng)的學習思想,單調乏味的學習活動,逐漸被充滿色彩美、構圖美、立體美等聲形并茂的視聽教材所替代,人們所向往的“一切學習帶有樂趣”的學習愿望正在變成現實。靈活多樣的多媒體技術使學習效果實現最優(yōu)化成為可能。利用多媒體學習,能突破時間、空間、宏觀、微觀的限制,直觀、形象地再現客觀事物,使學習者獲得豐富的感性材料,簡化由感性認識上升到理性認識的中間環(huán)節(jié)。另外,它也有助于集中學生注意力,引起濃厚興趣,激發(fā)學生的學
4、習積極性,便于知識的理解和鞏固。詳細說來,我們認為多媒體技術對學習的支持主要體現在以下幾個方面: (1)多媒體技術的運用豐富充實了學習資源,使學習不受時間、地域等的限制。傳統(tǒng)的學習模式是以教師、課堂和課本為中心的“三中心”模式,學習者主要從老師的課堂教學和課本中獲取知識。隨著人類社會的發(fā)展和科學技術的進步,知識產生和更新的速度越來越快,人類知識總量不斷擴大,知識體系結構也發(fā)生更大變化,知識的有效性將會變得短暫、要想從書本上、從傳統(tǒng)的教育模式和教育方法中掌握這些知識將越米越困難。而多媒體與先進的通訊技術的結合,特別是建立在網絡基礎上的多媒體系統(tǒng),即多媒體網絡系統(tǒng),不僅具有多種媒體信息處理和
5、人機交互功能,而且實現了網上多媒體信息傳遞和多媒體信息資源共享,可充分利用大學、圖書館等學習資源,各種社會教育機構的教育資源,使適應于各類學習者的學習資源豐富而充實,網絡的巨大信息包容量所提供的學習資源遠遠大于任何教師、任何教材乃至任何一座圖書館所能提供的信息量。利用網絡進行學習,在空間上,在講課教師面前學習的學習者與距教師千里之外的學習者是沒有本質區(qū)別的,正規(guī)的學校教育和大量的非正規(guī)教育、非正式教育并存,并相互補充;在時間上,人們隨時都可以進行學習,學習貫穿人的一生,教育終身化的目標會因為多媒體網絡的發(fā)展而得以實現;網絡具有使用上的極大自由度,使用者不受文化水準、專業(yè)知識、年齡大小的限制,打
6、破了國度和區(qū)域的限制。 (2)多媒體技術具有強化學習者記憶的功能。學習者在學習知識過程中,有許多不同類別的材料需要記憶。有的是圖像,有的是文字,有的是數字,有的也可能是聲音等等。心理學家實驗證明,學習者對不同類別的材料的記憶容量是各不相同的。對于圖像的記憶明顯超過對于表明物品名稱的詞語如“橘子”、“鋼筆”的記憶。短時記憶主要以聽覺編碼為主,長時記憶以視覺編碼為主。同是一種材料采用不同表現形式對學生的視覺感受力與注意力的影響是不同的。多媒體技術集聲音、圖像、文本、動畫為一體,為學習者營造出形象逼真的學習環(huán)境,可以使不同的感官在同一時間內接受到同一信息源的信息,這都有利于加強對知識的記憶,以
7、達到提高學習質量的目的。據國內外有關專家調查統(tǒng)計,同樣的內容,只憑聽能記住約10%,單憑看能記住25%,而視聽結合可記住65%,而多媒體技術恰是視聽結合的有效手段。 (3)應用多媒體技術能夠增強學習者的感官效應,提高學習效率。人類的感知行為主要包括視覺、聽覺和觸覺三種不同形態(tài)。傳統(tǒng)知識的傳授基本上都是用語言描述的,雖然能描述客觀世界,但很抽象。然而有了多媒體技術就可直接把現實世界表現出來。例如,宏觀的宇宙世界、微觀的物質世界,如果用語言描述,要得到形象的概念是非常困難的,但是在今天的多媒體時代,可以使用模擬、仿真,使內容變得非常直觀,容易理解。應用多媒體技術,可以方便地適應不同個體在認識
8、形態(tài)上的種種差異,從而激發(fā)起學習者的學習積極性和學習興趣,有利于學習效率的提高。 (4)應用多媒體技術有利于實現創(chuàng)造性的學習目標將現代化的多媒體技術引入學習中,將多維的教學媒體信息用于多媒體結構,有效地組織、運用多媒體技術的靈活多樣、生動逼真、便于控制的特點,使全方位的主體教學空間在教學過程中得到充分運用,由此來引發(fā)學習者的想象力和創(chuàng)造力。這種多媒體技術和學習內容的完美結合,可以促進人類感官與想象力的相互融合,以全方位的立體空間產生出前所未有的思維空間和創(chuàng)造靈感。 (5)應用多媒體技術可以實現學習信息交流的雙向化。將多媒體技術引入學習過程,由于多媒體技術的人機交互特性,學習者利用計算機
9、的鍵盤和鼠標,可方便地選擇學習內容和探索路徑。這樣就可以很方便地實現學習過程中的信息反饋與交流。這種交流包括教師與學習者、教師與教師、學習者與學習者、教師與計算機、學習者與計算機等多向交流。教師可以根據學習者的具體情況隨時調整學習過程,而學習者也可隨時向教師反饋自己的學習情況,真正做到因材施教,使得所有學習者都能取得滿意的學習效果。 (6)應用多媒體技術,能促進學習觀念的轉變。現代學習的思想、理論、觀點都是為了適應時代的發(fā)展,適應社會對人才的需求,這就在教育改革上提出了更高的要求。一般的“工匠型”人才已經不能適應知識快速更新的信息社會的發(fā)展需要,而素質全面、接受繼續(xù)教育能力強、智能型、有
10、創(chuàng)新精神的人才,則更適應時代的激烈競爭。所以,教育家提出要促使傳統(tǒng)的以教師為中心、以課堂為中心、以書本為中心的教育方式轉變?yōu)橐詫W習者為中心、以強化全體實踐為中心、以信息交流為中心的教育方式,變被動教育為主動教育,變應試教育為素質教育,變知識教育為智能教育。先進的技術則可以促進先進思想的實現,有了現代學習技術的支持,許多新的教學模式、方法和手段便可以應運而生,所以教師掌握多媒體應用技術,便可以使這些教育觀點、教育方法能在教學實踐中得以實現。 (7)多媒體技術可以為學習者提供豐富多樣的參考信息。學習者為了能得出所要探索的問題的結論,必須在大量有關感性材料的基礎上進行某些高級思維活動,大量的感
11、性材料的獲取,若采用傳統(tǒng)的方式是較困難和費時的,而利用多媒體技術則可非常容易地做到。多媒體技術可容納非常豐富的與學習內容有關的信息資源,學習者能非常方便、快捷地檢索到所需要的信息,這樣就極大地促進了學習者學習過程的順利進行。 3 、在運用多媒體技術學習時應當注意處理好的關系 盡管多媒體技術在學習中有如上所述諸多支持,但并非是使用了現代化手段就能保證學習的成功和達到預期的學習目標,這需要我們根據學習內容的特點合理選擇多媒體技術,所以在運用多媒體技術進行學習的過程中必須注意處理好以下幾個關系: (1)處理好多媒體技術與教育理論學習的關系。多媒體技術在學習中有其無可比擬的優(yōu)勢,但它畢竟
12、只是一種學習手段,是一種與傳統(tǒng)教學互補的實踐活動,因此必須與教育理論緊密聯系,理論可以指導一切實踐活動,反過來理論又為學習實踐提供更有效的幫助。因此在運用多媒體技術于學習的過程中,也必須充分考慮教育理論的學習和運用。只有充分掌握了包括學習理論、教學理論和傳播理論在內的眾多教育理論知識,才能在學習中合理運用多媒體技術,做到有的放矢、游刃有余而不致陷入只流于形式而與學習內容脫鉤的地步。 (2)處理多媒體技術與學習者掌握信息技術的關系。振興民族的希望在教育,振興教育的希望在于不斷的學習,我們的教育事業(yè)不會因為有了新的教育手段便會現代化,更需要的是具有現代觀念的人和掌握多媒體技術的人。在科學技術
