、ey have lost their purpose in life. However,a new study by researchers at the University of California,Berkeley, has found that many couples actually feel happier when their children leave home because they are able to enjoy spending time together. In total,123 American mothers born in the 1930s were

、 tracked for 18 years and asked to rate their satisfaction levels shortly after marrying, when they were bringing up babies, once their children reached their teenage years and finally at age 61,when almost all had “empty nests”. Although not all said they were happier in general, most claimed their m

、hip with their kids has no effect on marriages at all D.parents should be pleased to see their kids leave home 答案: Ⅰ. it is not permitted不允許。

on no account (=by no means,in no case決不,絕對不)位于句首時句子要倒裝;by any means無論如何;in that case在那種情況下;to some degree在某種程度上。 I’m not using it anyhow.

A應(yīng)為ask for one’s advice,C、D構(gòu)不成有意義的詞組。 on the spot在現(xiàn)場,當場,與本句的語境一致;in a spot陷入困境;off the spot不準確,離題;而D項是一個不存在的結(jié)構(gòu)。 10.B if not如果不的話,if so如果那樣,if necessary如果有必要,if pos

12.B be about to do...when... 13.D have trouble/difficulty (in) doing sth. result from (因……)發(fā)生;depend on依靠;取決于;watch out當心;account for解釋…

15.C good manners“禮貌”前不加冠詞,而in a...manner為固定搭配,所以選C。 Ⅱ.完形填空 1.A think of...as...

5.B 依據(jù)下文的with pride可知,該處用little。 give way to是固定短語,意為“為……

20.D stop doing sth.
