Teaching aims:
1. After learning this lesson, the students will be able to understand sentences in which the past perfect tense is used.
2. They are also expected to distinguish the past perfect tense from the simple past and the past perfect tense from t
2、he present perfect tense.
3. At the same time, they will read some passages in which the simple past tense, the past perfect tense or the present perfect tense is used.

Step 1 Lead in

4. What verb tenses are used in the sentence? (the simple past tense and the past perfect tense)
Step 2 Presentation
1. How can we form the past perfect? (By using “had +the verb-ed form”)
2. Page 42-43: Reread the passage
5、“The curse of the mummy” and underline the sentences in which the past perfect tense is used.
By the 1920s, he had bee an explorer, searching for the tombs of the Egyptian kings.
He had received money from Lord Carnarvon, a British man who was very interested in Egypt.
